These sculptures or assemblages are based on famous ballets like Swan Lake and on dancers including Maria Tallchief and Merce Cunningham. The works were created from discarded metal and wood like douglas fir and poplar from pieces of furniture and used canvases. Each piece captured the signature moves or style of the dance. The Art Deco style and geometric forms highlight the shape and contours of the human form. Female Dancer, which was created and displayed first, inspired the growth and expansion of the series.
